What we believe

What do you believe?

Wow! Great question, but that will be hard to fully answer in this little blurb.  How about this; we believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.  It doesn’t just contain truth, it is truth.  We have a neat little saying here, “Where the Bible speaks, we speak.  Where the Bible is silent, we are silent.”  We believe there are essentials for salvation and we seek unity in those essentials.  The things which are not essential we allow liberty.    I know that doesn’t answer every question about belief, but maybe it will help you get to know us.

Is Baptism necessary?

Sometimes the answers being given today aren’t the same as the answers given by the twelve men Christ chose to be apostles.  Everyone in the Bible, whose conversion-story is told had only one thing in common-Baptism!

So can you be saved without Baptism?

I sure hope so!  There are many wonderful, believing people, who never really looked at these Scriptures, and so have not been Baptized.  If they had been taught about Baptism, they probably would respond to it.  It is too important a subject to be passed by lightly.  Let me ask you this though, what would you teach a person, knowing that their lives depended on that one thing?  If the Bible says it even one time, then we should not seek anything less.

What is Communion?

It is a time of remembrance.  We believe that scripture and the early church teaches that the believers came together on the first day of each week and broke bread in a time of remembering Christ and his sacrifice for us.  It is not commanded that we do this weekly but is the example we’ve been given.  We also believe a person should look into their own hearts and examine themselves before taking communion.  If it has become commonplace or your heart is not right, we should not take it.
